I have just purchased a TRH candle! How long should the initial burn be? 

We recommend burning a new TRH candle for three hours upon buying. Once the wax pool is completely melted, the scent is able to be evenly distributed throughout a room. 

 

How are TRH candles different from other candle lines?

The Rustic House candles are made with sustainable, American-raised soy wax. We also use cosmetic-grade fragrances and oils, which is ideal for people who are sensitive to fragrance. Our wicks  are 100% cotton, so no need to worry about nasty chemicals being released into the air. Since our candles burn so cleanly and are additive-free, they have a large and even scent throw. In other words, you will be able to smell our candles throughout a room instead of just a small area. 

 

 How do I keep my candle burning efficiently?

It is super important to trim your wick to ¼ inch after each burn. If the wick is too long, the candle will burn too hot and quickly, wasting the wax. Plus, a long wick equals a long flame, which creates soot while the candle is burning. If you need help trimming your wick, try one of our Wick Trimmers.

 

Why does my candle container have a dark, ashy rim after burning?

Trimming the wick after each burn will keep your candle burning efficiently, and our white candle container crisp and bright. Since our candles burn so cleanly, they don’t have preservatives to prevent ashiness that may form on the container. A short wick will do the trick. 

 

I want to enjoy home fragrance, but don’t want to worry about an open flame. Is there an alternative to burning a traditional candle?

In addition to glass candles, we offer wax melts! They are a safe, flame-free way to enjoy home fragrance. They may be small, but they are super concentrated! Each square lasts 48 hours.

I live in Chattanooga and want to buy a TRH candle. Where can I purchase one locally?

We offer local pick up options at checkout when shopping online with us. We offer 24 hour pickup via a drop box located at our warehouse. For in person local shopping, we recommend, Vinterest, Plum Nelly, Locals Only, or Elder's Ace Hardware. 

I purchased a candle canoe and would like to get them refilled. How should I go about it?

Chattanooga locals can return canoes or rounds to us for refills at our warehouse. You can drop off anytime with our 24 hour drop off box. You can pre-purchase your refill option and send us all of your information here. If you are local, let us know ahead of time if you are going to prepay and drop off, we offer a local discount on refills.  Otherwise please send the used container to us in the mail and we are happy to refill. In the package, please list the scent you would like, along with your name, email address, shipping address and phone number. Cost and shipping will be calculated upon refill. We will be in touch via email!
